Uncle T Extends Sports Support To Mbarara City With Shs10 Million Boost

A week after donating Shs11 million to the Rwampara District football team, Dubai-based businessman Geoffrey Tusiime, popularly known as Uncle T, has extended his support for sports in western Uganda by donating Shs10 million to Uganda Premier League side Mbarara City.
The latest contribution continues a growing campaign by the businessman to strengthen grassroots and elite football in his native Ankole region, where he has repeatedly said sport can provide young people with opportunities for employment, personal development and professional careers.

The cash donation comes as Mbarara City intensifies preparations for the new Uganda Premier League season following its return to the top flight.
The club earned promotion after winning the 2024/25 FUFA Big League, bouncing back immediately after relegation from the Uganda Premier League at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
Last season, the Ankole Lions battled throughout the campaign before securing survival with 26 points, finishing 12th in the 16-team league ahead of the relegated trio of Buhimba United Saints, Calvary and UPDF.
The Shs10 million was officially delivered to the club's leadership at its Mbarara base on Friday by Valentine Muhereza, popularly known as Kachaina, the country coordinator for Uncle T's business interests.
While handing over the donation, Muhereza said the businessman remains committed to uplifting regional sports and empowering young people through football.
"Uncle T's vision is to see our local clubs become absolute powerhouses of sports talent in the region. This donation is a direct investment in the future of our young athletes," Muhereza said.
